Café Team Member Overview: The Café Team Member will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience for every guest. This position requires a friendly and outgoing individual who can greet customers warmly, take orders efficiently, and work collaboratively and positively with team members to maintain a clean and inviting environment. We are looking for hard working, team oriented people to join our team. This will be exemplified in everything from taking and fulfilling customer orders, greeting guests, checking in on guests experiences, helping with food prep, restocking menu items and maintaining the cleanliness and order of the space. Are able to provide quality hospitality and exceptional customer service to our guests throughout the day while addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally. Willingness/desire to take on added responsibility We are looking for both full-time or part-time hourly positions at the bakery/café on Main Street, Redwood City, CA. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Restaurant or café experience is preferred but not needed. Be able to take orders efficiently and fulfill them in a timely and friendly manner. Complete transactions on the POS system. Be on time for your shifts and ready to work upon arrival at the bakery. Provide exceptional customer service and conveying knowledge of the breads, pastries, coffee and menu items to our guests. Be able to multitask with composure in a fast paced environment. Monitor food and beverage quality and presentation, only serving items that you would be stoked to receive! Adhering to health and safety regulations. Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards- clean up! This may include washing dishes, sweeping, mopping. Team player, pitch in where needed. Authorization to work in the United States Current California Food Handlers Certificate, or obtain within 30 days of hire Great sense of humor with a large dose of humility Curiosity to learn and understand new(er) things ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to stand working for long periods of time, up to 8 hrs Ability to lift/push items weighing a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis Ability to act with composure and grace in fast-paced environment Ability to work at least 40 hours per week, including weekends and some holidays Ability to display and follow ethical and professional standards set by The Baker Next Door Be well groomed and maintain proper hygiene Ability to communicate in basic English Act with integrity and honesty to promote the culture, values and mission of The Baker Next Door, i.e., create kick-ass products and treat customers and fellow team members with the highest degree of respect and consideration.
